Setting Foundations in your business – The Misfit Entrepreneur Episode 07

Now that we got that out of the way before all the templates before everything, you need to set your brand foundations for your business. And why is this so important? I wish somebody had told me this. Because I only did all of this, like five months ago, I would have saved all of my time and had much better growth in the very first year of business.

First of all, Let me tell you why you need it.

You need it because you want to get your offer booked out every time you launch something. I know how stressful launching can be because you want to sign clients and have it booked out.

But When you have a launch plan and your Copy intact, all you need to do is to create excitement for your target audience or your following for them to be interested in you so they can buy it from you.

That’s what I want for you. That’s what you need for your business. Launching shouldn’t be hard. You need people to be waiting for you to launch something, to put out something so that they buy anything you put out.

Building your foundation is actually the fun part of your business and then there’s like the technical part. You need to do the technical part to go over to the fun part. The fun part would be like maybe the logos and the color and the typography.

Tip #1 : Do your Creative Direction

The Technical part is to have your Creative direction in place. I’m going to be giving you all the points so that you can set your foundations, that you and your target audience is aligned with. So the first thing you need for your business is to do a mood board.

Why? Because this is going to establish the everything for your business like how you would show up in your business, the language you would be using to talk and for your content, your Brand photography, the aesthetics for your social media posts, your website, your sales page and all of it. Now, before you head onto Pinterest and just start pinning random pins, let me break this down for you – What exactly should you be pinning!

Tip #2 : Start with Pinterest

You shouldn’t pin more than 40 pins on the board. There should be about 5 pins pinned for each category like dream vacation, a dream work desk , a cafe that you would like to chill, something like that. But it has to be aesthetic as fuck and made sure it’s consistent. Something that your higher self would go to or would buy. Then you would need about five typography pins.

Type “Typography aesthetics” so that it shows you the updated modern pins. Check the vibe you are attracted to : Is it traditional, retro, vintage , modern or corporate etc. ?

The next thing you need are some passion pins. Now this is going to set a tone for your brand photography. Now I cannot stress enough as to how important brand photography is for your Instagram account, or for your website or your offer page.

Tip #3 : Pin 40 pins

Every picture that you post on Instagram, has to be clicked professionally. This is going to make a huge impact for your business. It’s going to gather you some eyeballs. That’s what you need. This is how you set foundations in your business.

You gotta invest before you start reaping some benefits. Now with this, your mood board is sort of complete. Now you must be having about 30 to 40 pins. Not more than that. And that’s going to set a tone for your brand. Now, from this, you can, pull out some keywords.

Tip #4 : Pull out Keywords.

In my case it was the word “Spicy”. I got something that didn’t fit and that’s how I came up with”the misfit Entrepreneur podcast”, my brand is about everything spicy, you know, why make it boring? That is how you can kind of decipher the keywords and remember, keep these keywords in mind every time you feel lost about your brand.

For example, you decide to write some content to quickly post on Instagram. You can make sure your copy is spicy enough and if it talks to the rule breakers in my case and similar in yours. That’s when your brand starts coming alive.

I just decided to like print all of them and like stick it on my wall so that every time I go through something like this, I make sure it’s in my eyesight.

Tip #5 : Use it in everything consistently

Consistency of these things breed income just like walking on treadmill consistently gets you to lose weight. You HAVE to consistently walk on it for the end goal.

Same thing with these reputative cohesive things is when it’s going to bring you consistent money at the end of four months, this is a brilliant classic example because you know, this is the formula for success. There is no shortcut, . CONSISTENCY IS KEY.

So that you can start hitting your goal at the end of your chosen timeline. So now with the mood board, that’s ready for you. You can draw up to six colors from that establish a consistent color palette for yourself and your fonts. You can also plan well ahead for your brand photoshoot.

With all of this, you can create your own link in bio for your social media page or if you don’t have a website yet and if you are using something free, which is like a third party thing, I would either prefer you using a milkshake or something called “lnk.bio”.

This can keep you on brand AF, which is exactly what you need. These things can make your target audience go like, woo, nice! You can also building out your sales page for your offer etc.

I always feel that your Link in bio has to be the most interesting thing. I have a cute one myself. And I always encourage my clients to use their website to have a custom one for themselves.
